Hoyt Lee Longwith, 75, also known by many on local golf courses as “Hack,” passed away on Wednesday afternoon, July 24, 2013, in a Chattanooga hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Cleveland being born here on June 25, 1938, a son of the late Roy and Azilea Longwith.
He worked for many years and retired from the Maytag Corp. During his retirement he continued working part time for the Bailey Company and also Waterville Gold Course. He loved playing golf and watching his favorite football teams play. He will be most remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death just three short months ago by his precious wife, Barbara; one brother, David Longwith; and one sister, Evelyn Miller.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory one daughter, Karen Sue Severian (Jose) of Stephenville, Texas; one son, Michael Longwith of Cleveland; one sister, Donna Bain of Cleveland: one brother, Fleatus Longwith (Audrey) of Cleveland; four grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A graveside service is planned for Sunday afternoon, July 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Guinn Green officiating.
The family will receive friends on Saturday night, July 27, 2013, in the parlor of Companion Funeral Home, 2415 Georgetown Road from 5 until 7.
