The board of directors of Southern Heritage Bank recently approved the promotion of three of its local employees.

Denise Pierce has been promoted to vice president of compliance/BSA. Connie Houser was given the new title of customer service officer. Carol Murray has become the company’s teller operations officer.

The announcement was made by President and CEO Lee Stewart.

“It is a great pleasure to reward individuals who have proven themselves valuable through hard work and loyal, dedicated service to Southern Heritage Bank,” Stewart said. “I am proud to have these ladies on our team.”

Stewart described Pierce’s promotion as being “well deserved,” as she held the position of compliance officer and “done an outstanding job.”

“Under her watch, the bank has received high scores from various regulatory compliance audits by the FDIC and the state of Tennessee,” Stewart said. “That is a direct result of her diligence in making sure all compliance laws are met and adhered to and that our customers receive professional and fair treatment.”

“I am happy that Connie has received this recognition also,” Stewart said. “She has provided eight years of ‘Expect A Difference’ service to our customers at the main office and continues to exhibit a positive, friendly and customer-focused attitude daily.”

“Carol joined Southern Heritage as an on-call floater providing teller coverage at all three offices. Her work ethic, friendly disposition and dedication to efficient customer service all contributed to her promotions to assistant head teller, head teller and now teller operations officer at our Georgetown office,” Stewart said.

Denise Pierce graduated from Red Bank High School in Chattanooga and attended Cleveland State Community College. She earned the Certified Regulatory Compliance Management designation in August 2007. Pierce has worked in the banking business for 35 years. Before joining Southern Heritage in 2003, she previously worked for Pioneer Bank, First Tennessee, Memphis Bank & Trust, First American, AmSouth and Regions. Her husband, Michael, is a captain for the Cleveland Fire Department. They are members of First Baptist Church.

Connie Houser graduated from Bradley Central High School and attended Cleveland State Community College, where she received a secretarial science certificate. Before joining Southern Heritage in 2006, she worked for Holston Methodist Federal Credit Union in Knoxville. Her husband, Steve, is employed by First Baptist Church, which they attend.

Carol Murray graduated from Boone County High School in Florence, Ky., and attended Northern Kentucky University. She has worked in banking for 12 years, most of that time at Navy Federal Credit Union in Groton, Conn. Carol joined Southern Heritage Bank in 2009 after relocating to Cleveland when her husband, Derek, retired from the Navy.

Southern Heritage Bank has been in business since April 1999, and three full-service banking offices currently operate in Bradley County. For more information about the company, visit its website at www.southernheritagebank.com.
