Rita Diane Johnson, 57, a resident of Old Fort, passed away Sunday evening, Aug. 4, 2013, in a Chattanooga hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Laura Ruth Scroggs Smith and Bobby Jack Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Johnson Sr.; grandchildren: Ashley Harvey and Brandon Harvey; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Willard and Delores Johnson.
She worked for Perma Color Manufacturing for more than 20 years.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and reading. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Benton.
She is survived by her special daughter and caregiver, Laverina E. Terry and her husband, Christopher, of Old Fort; and daughter: Lisa D. Johnson of Cleveland; two sons: Robert L. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Missy, of Benton and Lawrence W. Johnson and his wife, Mandy, of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren: sisters: Rachel Hurst and Rhonda Hurst, both of Palatka, Fla., Sherry Smith and Teresa Smith, both of Benton, brother, Ray Hurst of Palatka; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, from the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Richard Mason and the Rev. Robert L. Johnson III officiating.
Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Wug. 7, 2013, from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.
