Mary Graham Cook, 101, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013.

She was born on Sept. 10, 1911.

She lived a rich and full life, she knew how to bring joy to others, always had a kind word to say and saw the best in others.

She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Bristol, Va. She loved her church and left a clear and strong testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was good at those things which go into making a good home, she loved to cook, sew, garden, can foods, crochet and quilt.

She had goals for each of her seven children; that they get a good education, choose a loving spouse and most of all she wanted each one to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She met all of these goals and many more. Her children rise up and call her blessed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alford and Sarah Taylor Graham; her husband of almost 60 years, Sherman Cook; a daughter, Erma Lou Cook Hooper; and six brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include six children and their spouses: Lucille and Bill Reed of Chattanooga, Ledford and Elissa Cook of Chattanooga, Erskine Larry and Betty Cook of McDonald, Austin and Vera Cook of Bristol, Vincent and Melba Cook of McDonald, and Katherine and Roy Kesley of Cleveland; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 6 p.m. today, Aug. 7, 2013, at Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Joel Cook and Dr. Dewey Williams officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, in Lakewood Memorial Gardens in Chattanooga, with the Rev. Vincent Cook officiating.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to extended family and friends for visits, phone calls, letters, concerns and most of all your prayers.
