The sixth annual Danette Henry Memorial golf tournament benefitting the Danette Henry Memorial Ovarian Cancer Fund will tee off Sept. 14 at Chatata Valley Golf Course.

Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. with lunch being served before a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The cost for the four-person, select shot tournament is $300 per team or $75 per individual.

Danette Henry was a wife, mother, friend and highly dedicated professional who served as director of payroll for more than 24 years at Life Care Centers of America. She was known for her gentle spirit and reaching out to help others. Her battle with ovarian cancer came to an end in January of 2008.

To honor her legacy, the family started the Danette Henry Memorial Golf Tournament. Proceeds will help support the Memorial Hospital Health Care System Foundation. The fund exists to improve the quality of life for those going through ovarian cancer treatment. Contributions are tax deductible.

Funds have also helped complete the Infusion Center at Memorial which serves as a place of refuge and peace to families receiving care at Memorial Hospital. Last year, $19,543 was raised for the Center and nearly $84,000 has been raised since the inception of the tournament.
