The Lady Mustangs took the first set 25-17, while Soddy-Daisy answered with a 25-14 second set win. The swing of the momentum fell in Walker Valley’s favor during the third set.
Head coach Judy Pruett said earlier that this year’s team was one she felt would work hard and finish their games.
Their drive was evident in that pivotal third set, when Walker Valley came back after trailing the Lady Trojans 23-19 to win 26-24.
The Lady Mustangs followed their comeback win with a final set victory of 25-19.
Prior to leaving the game early on in the fourth set, senior outside hitter Baylee Boen had nine kills, 16 digs and 14 receptions. Sophomore outside hitter Madison Pruett had one block, 14 kills, 12 digs and 22 receptions.
Junior setter Abby Campbell had two aces, 19 assists, 16 digs and one reception, while sophomore setter Ashlyn Flock had two aces, 12 assists, three kills and 12 digs of her own.
Junior defensive specialist Katelin Scoggins had an ace, six digs and 11 receptions, and senior libero Alex Rominger had 17 digs.
Senior Rachel Lawhorn had one assist, 2.5 blocks, seven kills and three digs, while junior Nikki Prugh had an assist, two blocks, three kills, three digs and two receptions.
Junior Abbi Mason had two assists, five kills, two digs and one reception.
