Bernard “Barney” Arthell Kennett, 83, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, in a local health care facility.

He was the son of the late Louise Kirkland Kennett and George Washington Kennett. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Zella Kennett; his brothers: Robert Kennett, George Kennett and Raymond Kennett; and his sister, Gladys Lowe.

He enjoyed music, bluegrass, gospel, going to church, homecomings and was a song leader at church. He was of the Church of God faith.

He is survived by his daughters: Janice Bickert and her husband, George, of Ruidoso, N.M., Martha Herron and her husband, Gary, of Blair, Neb., Katie Davis and her husband, Randy, of Benton; his son, Stephen Kennett and his wife, Rachel, of Etowah; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Anna Mae Doss of Lenoir City; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Don Harris officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1 p.m. until the service time at 3 p.m. at the funeral home which is in charge of the cremation service.
