Library Corner: Library to celebrate the 75th anniversary of ‘Wizard of Oz’

Toni Swink, who has been an important part of the Cleveland Bradley County Public Library team for more than 20 years serving in the circulation department will be retiring at the end of September. The public is invited to stop by to wish her well.

Rebeckah Coleman will assume the circulation supervisor position at Swink’s departure. Coleman has been employed by the library for more than 13 years and has worked in the circulation department and, more recently, in the Children’s Library. Feel to stop by and congratulate her on her new position.

The library Teen Advisory Group will be meet on Monday at 4:30 p.m. The Teen Advisory Group is a gathering of fabulous young people between the ages of 13 and 17, who want to make a difference in the Cleveland Bradley County Public Library and the community. TAG members help plan teen programs, volunteer at library events, do community service work and help select books and media for the young adult collection. Stop in for Teen Crafts this week on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The project will be book wreaths.

Celebrate the upcoming 75th anniversary of “The Wizard of Oz” with us on Saturday at 11 a.m. Dress as your favorite Wizard of Oz character and join in on the fun. Don’t forget to bring a friend and feel free to sing along. This program is for the whole family.

A special thanks is offered to the parents and caregivers who support the ongoing library programming for children and teens. This past summer children and teens read 14,240 books and 3,683 children and teens participated in programs.
