Helen Ayers Green, 86, of Cleveland, went home to Jesus on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, to a new beginning.

She was an avid NASCAR fan, as well as a North Carolina Tarheels basketball fan. She loved to read, embroider, and make people happy. She will be remembered for her sweet Christian Spirit, her sparkly blue eyes, her bright smile, her gentle ways and kind words.

She was born on Aug. 17, 1927, the seventh of nine children, to the late Ernest Franklin Ayers Sr. and Mattie Martin Ayers in Pinnacle, N.C.

She was the wife of the late Robert W. Green of Thomasville, N.C., and the mother of five children and two stepchildren.

She lived with her family in North Carolina until 1974. After living in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Georgetown, S.C., for 34 years and after the death of her husband she moved to Cleveland to live with her daughter, Robin; her son-in-law, Mark; and her granddaughter, Claire.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six siblings: Evelyn Ayers Gordon, Frances Ayers Johnson, Mary Ayers Markey, Mattie Ayers Buchanan, Dorothy Ayers Sloan, and George W. Ayers; and one stepson, Kenneth Bruce Green.

Surviving to cherish her memory include her daughter, Robin Green Delaney (Mark); her sons: Craig E. Boose (Rita), Dennis Keith Boose; Douglas M. Boose (Josie), and Ronald G. Boose; her stepdaughter, Brenda Green Williams (Bob); and her stepdaughter-in-law, Mary Green; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Betty Ayers Jones and Ernest F. Ayers Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at North Cleveland Baptist Church in the Annex with Pastor Jay McCluskey officiating. She will be buried at Pinnacle United Methodist cemetery beside her husband, Bob.

Although she loved all kinds of flowers, she would have rather had a donation made to Grace to the Finish at North Cleveland Baptist Church, 2815 North Ocoee St., Cleveland TN 37312.

Arrangements are being handled by Grissom Funeral Home, Mark S. Grissom, funeral director.
