All ages are invited to view “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” (PG-13) today at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Room.

The United Club will meet Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Golden Corral. Larry Hawkins, author of “The Misadventures of Joe Bradley Mullins” will be the guest speaker. You do not have to be a member to attend the meeting. For more information, call Martha Bostic at 479-9207.

“Made to Crave” class will be at the YMCA on each Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. until Oct. 29. The class, for ages 16 and up, will be led by Ruthie Forgey, who recently lost more than 155 pounds. Family Reading Night will begin again on Monday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the library. The first 10 people who come will receive a free book.

“The Maltese Falcon” will be shown on Sept. 24 during Movie Night at the Library (Famous Sleuths) at 7 p.m. in the Community Room. Sam Spade is sleuth this month. Popcorn will be served.

Scribblers, a new creative writing group for Tweens (9 to 14) will meet Thursday and on the fourth Thursdays of the month at 4:30 p.m. Any tween interested in writing and improving their skills should attend this group which will meet in the Children’s Activity Room.

A women’s breakfast will be held on Sept. 28 at 9:30 a.m., at The Salvation Army, 437 Inman St. It will be a time of fellowship and an introduction to the “When Wallflowers Dance Women’s Conference” which will be Oct. 25-26. “When Wallflowers Dance” is a fresh challenge to women who have lived hesitant, cautious lives but long to break free and dance. It uses Scripture to address the attributes of “becoming” free. There is no cost to attend. To register, call 423-479-4905.

The 24th East Tennessee Auto Pl8s meet will be held on Sept. 28 at the Tri-State Exhibition Center in the Exhibit Hall, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Guests and prospective members are welcome to attend at no charge. For more information, call Joe Sharp at 559-0836.

Take Charge of Your Diabetes six-week course will begin Sept. 30 and continue Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28, concluding Nov. 4. Classes are from 2 to 4 p.m. each day. The course is a fun, skill-building program designed for persons with diabetes and is designed to help individuals take day-to-day responsibility for the care of their diabetes. Class size is limited. To register, contact the UT Extension-Bradley Office at 728-7001 by Sept. 26.

Common Threads Quilt Club is sponsoring a quilt show on Oct. 11-12 at the Mount Olive Chuch of God Family Ministry Center, 3533 Harrison Pike.
