Ira W. “Bud” Howell, 83, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013.
He was born on Feb. 1, 1930. He was a veteran of the United States Army and loved being outdoors, gardening and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Matterson Howell and Margie Belle Bacon Howell; the mother of his children and former wife, JoAnne Stevison Howell; his two granddaughters, Sheila Newman and Patricia Howell; two brothers, Robert Fred Howell and Clarence Randall Howell; and three sisters, Minnie Ruth Howell, Reba Mae Lawson and Nellie Marie Belcher.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Lee Howell and Brenda Lee Howell; four grandchildren: Brad Newman, Amy Parton and husband, Nathan Parton, Denny Howell Jr. and wife, Susan, Arthur Howell and Cassandra Marie Howell. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Chase, Amber and Kalie; three sisters, Helen Flossie Campbell, Dorothy Juanita Gates and Mary Catherine Ensley; numerous extended family members and a host of special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for today, at 7 p.m. at the East Side Church of Christ, located at 252 Wildwood Ave. SE, with Ministers David Pharr and Denny Howell officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 5 until 7 tonight, prior to the service time.
The family and friends will gather at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. for the interment. The service will conclude with military honors.
