About 220 Volunteer Energy Cooperative customers in Polk County were to experience a brief power outage from 9 a.m. until noon today.

The outage was required to allow VEC crews to perform system maintenance work and upgrades.

Areas affected included Busted Rock Road, Delta Drive, Railroad Circle, Ladd Springs Road, Ball Play Road, J. Wilson Road, Horns Creek Road, Sand Mountain Road, and Kirby Lane.

VEC apologizes for any inconveniences the outage may cause.
