Jones Companies, which include Check Into Cash, Buy Here Pay Here USA, Jones Properties, Bald Headed Bistro, Jones Management Services, Jones Airways, Village Bakeshop and US Money Shops, are joining with United Way of Bradley County to produce a cookbook that will include many new recipes and some old favorites. Plans are for the cookbook to be available before, or at least by, Christmas.
“This cookbook will include recipes from our associates, but also recipes turned in to us from the local community,” said Steve Hixson, vice president of Business Development for Jones Management. “At present, we have recipes ranging from appetizers, to main dishes, to desserts, and hope to have more before we go to press with the cookbook later this week.”
Proceeds from the book, which will primarily be sold locally but might also be sold at Check Into Cash outlets throughout the United States, will go to United Way of Bradley County.
This will be in addition to the internal campaign that Jones Companies will conduct for United Way later this month.
“We want to thank Jones Companies, specifically Steve Hixson, for bringing us this idea” said Patrick Long, United Way of Bradley County vice president of Development Strategies.
“We will be selling the cookbooks at reasonable prices at local sites, and hope to see many in our community take advantage of this special project.”
There have been more than 150 recipes turned in for the cookbook, but there is the opportunity for even more to be published. It is hoped that even more recipes will be turned in by local residents in the next few days, with a deadline for recipes set for Thursday.
One winner will be selected from each entry to receive a $100 gift card from the Bald Headed Bistro.
“Everybody loves food, and many love to cook, and we know there are those in our community with such caring hearts that they will want to either submit a recipe, purchase a book when available, or do both,” Hixson said. “Remember, all proceeds will be going back to United Way of Bradley County to help in our area.”
To submit a recipe, email directions to either Daniel Brantley at dbrantly@checkintocash. com, or Allen Mincey at email@example.com. Be sure to include your name and where you reside (city), as well as if you are involve in a local company involved in the United Way campaign. If your recipe has a special meaning to you (it was handed down by my mom … it has been a family favorite for years … I remember this recipe from school … etc.), please include that as well.
Also include a telephone number and return email address so we may contact you if you are the Bistro gift card winner, or if we have any questions about your recipe.
“We want to thank Jones Companies for coming up with this idea to build on their successful United Way campaign, and hope that this cookbook will become a fixture in your kitchen for years to come,” Long added.
