This annual competition has been a tradition at Lee for 21 years. The event, organized by Lee’s Department of Residential Life and Housing, brings energy and excitement into dorm life, while raising money for various service organizations.
The first-, second-, and third- place winners will receive a cash prize to be donated to an organization of their choosing.
This year, students will serve with the following service organizations: Second Life Chattanooga, Ooltewah Middle School, Habitat for Humanity, New Hope Pregnancy Center, People for Care and Learning, Family Promise, Boys and Girls Club, Haven Place, Harbor Safe House, Channels of Love, and the Disabled American Veterans Association.
Every residence hall on campus will participate in this event, along with a designated faculty sponsor. Other Lee staff members will be involved in the competition as officials and scorekeepers.
With more than 1,500 students in attendance, Dorm Wars has become one of the most anticipated events on campus. At the end of the night, the coveted title of “Dorm Wars Champion” will be given to one male hall and one female hall.
“For over 20 years, Dorm Wars has been bringing the campus together,” said Melissa Jones, area coordinator for residential life. “We are thrilled that, as a part of this wonderful event, we are able to give back to the community.”
The events featured this year will include the classic relay race, the shopping cart race, and the obstacle course, among others.
Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Melissa Jones at firstname.lastname@example.org or 423-614-6013.
