The Polk County Junior High 4-H livestock judging team traveled to Knoxville Sept. 26 to participate in the Eastern Region 4-H livestock Judging Contest. Team members included Ally Morrow, Keir Beth Cox, Mackenzie Lanning and Marissa Milen. The team placed live animal including Angus Heifers, Market Hogs, Ewes, Goats, and Market Lambs. Each class contains four animals which the 4-H members ranks and places each animal. The team members then have a written test over two of the classes that they have placed. The Polk County Team placed fifth in regional competition out of 18 other teams, which was a great accomplishment for a first year team. The team was coached by 4-H volunteer Joel Cox. Team members are, from left, Keri, Mackenzie, Marissa, and Ally. After the competition, the team was treated to dinner compliments of the Polk County 4-H Support Club.
