Cleveland State on Oct. 30
Cleveland State Community College will hold a Food Day event in conjunction with Octoberfest on Oct. 30.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the event will take place on the campus of Cleveland state. There will be activities on the hill beside the Student Center.
An afternoon movie screening of “A Place at the Table,” will be held at 1:30 p.m., in the Humanities building room H127.
‘Wild River’ to be shown at Hiwassee/Ocoee Rivers Park
An outdoor screening of “Wild River,” starring Montgomery Clift and Lee Remick, will be held Oct. 25 at the Hiwassee/Ocoee Rivers State Park.
The classic 1960 film was filmed entirely in the Tennessee Valley.
Much of the filming took place along the Hiwassee and Tennessee rivers. Many local residents were featured as extras.
“Wild River” expert David Swafford will be offering a pre-show orientation and post-show question- and-answer session.
The film will be shown in the park amphitheater at 7:15 p.m.
Spooktacular Fall Festival planned at the mall
A Spooktacular Fall Festival is planned for Oct. 31 at Bradley Square Mall.
The annual Fall Festival is sponsored by Living Word Church, Hopewell Church of God, Westmore Church of God, Westwood Baptist Church and North Cleveland Church of God.
There will be fun, games and trick-or-treating at participating store.
The festival will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.
Volley for a Cure
The annual Countryside Volley for a Cure event is planned for today and Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
One hundred percent of proceeds from sale of T-shirts wil go toward Volley for a Cure.
Shirts will be available in all sizes, including youth sizes.
Countryside will also be offering its “pink ice cream” as well as free gift cards and additional items for giveaways.
