Charles Adam “Chuck” Houlk Jr., 57, a resident of Cleveland, passed away early Wednesday morning, Oct. 23, 2013, at the family residence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Adam Houlk Sr.; his sister, Sandy Houlk; his paternal grandparents: Charlie and Martha Houlk; and his maternal grandparents: Jesse and Elizabeth Burgess.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a self-employed truck driver most of his life. He enjoyed riding his Harley and he was a member of various motorcycle and trucking clubs. He was a good man and father and he was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include his son, Chad Houlk of Whitwell; his grandson, Zaryk Grant of Dunlap; his mother, Dessie Houlk of Cleveland; his sisters: Carolyn Mallen and her husband, Ted, of Hixson and Candy Lawson and her husband, Mike, of Cleveland; his nephews: Mikie, Alexander and Andrew Lawson and Chris and Corey Carden; his best friend, Gary Bass; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends also survive.

The Remembrance of Life Graveside Service will be conducted Monday, Oct. 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. from the New Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 2 until 5 p.m. today at the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes.
