He was born on Feb. 28, 1965, in Cleveland, a son of Anna Lou Baxter.
He graduated from Polk County High School in 1983. He was a member of the South Cleveland Church of God, where he was very active in the music department and church choir. He was a local hairdresser for more than 25 years and was a member of the Tennessee Hair Fashion Committee. He enjoyed people and made everyone he was around feel special. Through all his medical trials he always kept a positive outlook and never wavered in his faith and trust in God.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by dad James “Pops” Baxter; and two brothers: Michael and Chris Young.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory two sisters: Darlene Longley of Old Fort and Darlene Baxter Cross (Lynn) of Cleveland; one brother, Terry Baxter of Old Fort; father, Willis Young and special nephew and caregiver Josh Peels; and other nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family and a host of special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for tonight, Oct. 29, 2013, at 7 p.m. at the South Cleveland Church of God with the Revs. Chris Moody and Brien Sturgiel officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 4 until the 7 p.m. service time.
Interment will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m.in Red Hill Cemetery with John Miles, Bryan Carver, Eddie Miles, Jimmie Slone, Zach Cross, Patrick Cross, T. J. Baxter and Doug Carver serving as pallbearers. The funeral procession will leave South Cleveland Church of God on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
