Helen Merrell Currin of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013.
The Giles County native was born Sept. 16, 1926, to David Harris and Sarah Reviea Merrell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barron Currin, of Ardmore, Tennessee.
She was educated in the public schools of Giles County, and was a graduate of Martin Methodist College in Pulaski and Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.
She taught school for 16 years, having spent nine years as a member of the Elkton High School faculty in Giles County. She was a long-time member of the Ardmore United Methodist Church. More recently, she attended Tasso United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Barry Merrell Currin and his wife, Kim; and grandson, Grant Currin, all of Cleveland; brother, Joe M. Merrell and sister-in-law, Jeanene; and nephew, Greg Merrell, all of Elkton; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will held from noon until 2 p.m. Friday at Grissom Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends in Alabama at Ardmore Funeral Home, Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at 1 p.m. with the funeral service at 2 p.m.
Interment will follow at Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore, Ala.
