Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. — Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will hold special activities on Veterans Day weekend, November 9 thorugh 11.

Veterans Day will be celebrated as a fee-free weekend for all park visitors in honor of U.S. veterans and current members of the U.S. Armed Forces. This includes Point Park on Lookout Mountain. The fee-free period begins Nov. 9 and continues through Nov. 11.

On Nov. 9 and Nov.10, living historians will represent a historical military timeline associated with the battlefield.

Join a Park Ranger as he leads visitors back in time. These 45- minute programs will take place behind the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Also on Nov. 9, a park ranger will present a 90-minute interpretive program titled, “A Walk Down Memory Lane – Units on the Battleline” to visit some of the monuments along Battleline Road and learn about some of the soldier’s accounts and stories associated with the Battle of Chickamauga.

This program begins at 2 p.m. at Tour Stop 2. It is recommended that you wear comfortable, supportive footwear and dress appropriately for the weather.
