Joyce Bennett, 79, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 9, 2013, in a local hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Frank and Edith Swafford Davenport. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Louise Davenport.
She was a former employee with Brown Stove Works working as the personal assistant to Kenneth Brown Sr. After her employment at Brown she went to work for Junior Achievement in Cleveland until her retirement in 1982.
She met the love of her life, Sam Bennett, in 1954. They were married with a bang on the Fourth of July 1956. Fifty-seven years later, they were still happily married at the time of her death. She was a graduate of Bradley Central High School.
Survivors include her husband, Sam Bennett; her sons: Jeff Bennett and his wife, Stephanie, of Cleveland, Tony Bennett and his wife, Lisa, of Chattanooga; and grandchildren: Zoe Bennett, Krista Riad, Bryce Bennett, Elisabeth Bennett and Samantha Bennett.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. today, Nov. 11, 2013, at the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Allan Lovelace officiating.
Interment will follow in the Fort Hill Cemetery.
