Friends of the Library Association will host an Antique and Rare Book silent auction today at the Craigmiles-Johnston House History Branch Library from 2 to 4 p.m. Come and bid on books, from biographies to essays, primers, classics and serials — almost all pre-date 1920, before ISBN numbers were assigned to books. Many are first editions. Proceeds from this sale will go to help our Teen Group enclose the Teen Zone at the library.

Bring a friend and enjoy a fun-filled time with several “useful” crafts and lunch on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the UT Extension-Bradley County Building at 95 Church St. S.E. Sponsored by Bradley County FCE Club members, participants will enjoy a variety of fun activities and great food. Cost per person is $12. Registration is required. The Ocoee Theatre Guild will hold auditions on Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. and Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m, at the Cleveland Bradley County Public Library for its upcoming production "Sirens" in February, 2014. All actors or aspiring actors are invited to audition for this romantic comedy. No prepared materials are required. The guild is looking for male and female actor, ages 20-59. The Tennessee Youth Ballet will present “The Nutcracker” on Dec. 8 at the Dixon Center on Lee University campus. “Jazzy Little Christmas VIII” opens Dec. 6 and runs through Dec. 8 in the Sue E. Trotter Theater at The Arts Center in Athens. The show is perfect for music lovers looking for an exciting kickoff to the holiday season. Directed by Pam Thigpen, the evening features local musicians singing and playing their favorite Christmas tunes cabaret-style with an emphasis on fun, inspiration and holiday cheer.
