The theme for Xi Delta Phi is “Light Up Your Life” and the motto is “Life, Learning and Friendship.”
Back in 1931 during the Great Depression, Beta Sigma Phi was founded by Walter Ross to provide an outlet for women during that time. Money was not plentiful, therefore women couldn’t go to college. They had to stay home and support their families.
Ross provided these women with a program of cultural study so they could become and have a “Sisterhood.” Since the early days of Beta Sigma Phi, the group is the largest women’s sorority in the world with more than 200,000 members in more than 20 countries.
Beta Sigma Phi is like a beautiful, pieced quilt and each member is a unique piece of fabric — all come from different walks of life, which makes our quilt very special and unique, a representative said. Each sister is like a patch some with frayed edges — some not quite straight, but with every stitch of our Sisterhood’s loving hands with powerful thread we can hold our “quilt of strength” true.
The newest member, Laney Wooten, was welcomed to the local chapter.
