A response to a burglary in progress resulted in the arrest of two suspects after they had to leave their vehicle and flee on foot, according to reports at the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.

A 911 call sent deputies to the 900 block of Ladd Springs Road just after 2 a.m. Friday.

A dog’s barks woke the homeowner, who found the front door of his home standing open.

Initial responding deputies found the suspect’s vehicle had been left in the driveway when the homeowner’s grandson arrived and parked behind it.

In the bed of the truck were several items that have been identified as belonging to the homeowner, according to Bob Gault, media and public relations coordinator for the Sheriff’s Office.

Patrol deputies checked the area, and, a short distance away, Zachery Dwaine Davis, 29, and Walter Leon Grigsby, 46, both of Eagle Park Drive, were taken into custody.

They each face charges of aggravated burglary, two counts of burglary, two counts of auto burglary and one count of theft under $500.

Investigation showed three structures and two vehicles on the property were entered.
