Building additions or alteration projects, totaling $415,634 in value, were permitted in October bringing in $2,067 in permit fees. Additions and alterations accounted for 13 of the 33 total permits for the month, according to a city report.
Projects ranged from building decks to converting a space into a laundry room.
Renovation of an old movie theater to be converted into an event space accounted for $20,000 of the projects. The converted space became The Venue Creekside and opened on Oct.15.
Commercial permits generated the most revenue with $8,116 in fees being collected.
Commercial projects totaled $2,473,373 in value. Two gas stations with stores were among the commercial permitted projects. The Shoe Department on Paul Huff Parkway also received renovation. A permit for another airport hangar was also received.
Another project will build a postal kiosk at Brookes Edge apartments on Adkisson Drive. The apartment complex officially opened on Nov. 1.
Several permits to construct single-family homes and townhouses were also issued. Twelve permits issued totaled $1,575,000 in value. The projects brought in $6,525 in permit fees.
Additions to Weston Hills, Woodland Cove II and Mountain Brook subdivisions were also included. Another single-family home building permit was approved for a home gym on Centenary Avenue.
