’Cats fall to North Murray

CHATSWORTH, Ga. — Polk County suffered a loss Friday evening as they traveled south into Georgia to take on North Murray County.

By the end of four quarters, the Mountaineers came out 51-28 over the Wildcats.

The teams both had a slow start, with North Murray leading Polk County 9-6 by the end of the first quarter.

The Wildcats narrowed the Mountaineers’ lead to just two points and were only trailing 20-18 at the half.

North Murray was able to hold Polk to just four points in the third quarter, while going on to add 16 more points to their own score.

The fourth quarter was close to the same story, as the Wildcats were only able to score six more points before the game was finished. The Mountaineers, on the other hand, managed to get 15 more points on the board.

Gage Locke led Polk with a total of 12 points for the night and was 8-for-10 from the free-throw line.

Hunter Ownbey and Will Richmond each hit a 3-point shot.

Polk County will be back in action down in Georgia on Monday, as the Wildcats and Wildkittens travel to Coahulla Creek.
