Lady Crusaders win in OT

Cleveland Christian Academy hosted Apostolic of Maryville Tuesday in a pair of SSCA games. The Lady Crusaders battled to a 47-47 tie at the end of regulation before winning by three in overtime. The boys’ game saw Apostolic win a 70-23 runaway.

The Apostolic girls led by only two points, 12-10 at the end of the first quarter but outscored the Lady Crusaders 15-9 in the second to take a 27-19 lead ino halftime. CCS stepped up defensively in the third, holding Maryville to only six points while scoring 16 to take a 35-33 lead. Maryville picked it up in the fourth with 14 points to 12 for the Lady Crusaders, sending the game into overtime. CCS again took control in OT scoring 12 points to nine for the visitors to lock up the win.

Holly Sutton led the way for the Lady Crusaders with 28 points, followed by Acacia Thompson who hit double figures with 17. Whitney White and Emily Sexton scored six points apiece while Hope Nix added two points to the victory.
