Life Bridges to apply for grant for 2 vans

Life Bridges Inc. will apply to the Tennessee Department of Transportation for a capital grant under Section 5310 of Chapter 53 of Title 49 of the United States Code for the purchase of two three-passenger/two-wheelchair vans to be used for the transportation of elderly and disabled persons.

According to a public announcement by Life Bridges, which is also aimed at all public and private transit operators within the Cleveland area, the service would consist of “... transporting elderly and disabled persons to and from home, the community, medical visits, developmental services and/or place of employment on a daily or several times weekly basis.”

Life Bridges is making the announcement “... to ensure that such service would not duplicate current or proposed services provided by existing transit or paratransit operators.”

Comments either for or against the proposed service by public and private transit and paratransit operators must be received within 30 days of today’s announcement.
