The event culminates a yearlong series of meetings that include fellowship, food, door prizes, speakers, special activities and travel opportunities.
Eric Williams, general manager of Wade Foods, entertained the crowd with Christmas music and persuaded some of the attendees to participate in being Rudolph and his reindeer to deliver a fun rendition of “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”
Williams said, “The BridgeMakers group are full of love and life, and I am blessed to be a part of the group.”
BridgeMakers is a support group for those who have lost loved ones. It offers loving, caring and sharing with each other. Its mission is to provide an opportunity to build new relationships, meet new friends, and find continued meaning in life and living.
The BridgeMakers group meets monthly and the membership fee is $50 yearly, or $5 a month. It is open to anyone in the community who would like to attend.
A variety of trips are offered including day, overnight and extended trips.
Future 2014 plans include travels to Niagara Falls, Toronto, West Virginia, Loretta Lynn’s Ranch, Saint Louis, Savannah, Ga., and many others.
Linda Mayton, assisted by her husband, Doyle, is the director of the program. Mayton commented, “Over the years, BridgeMakers has become an interwoven tapestry of beautiful people who offer love, joy and a strong fellowship that runs deep within the hearts of the members.”
