Revenue from building permits was down for both the city of Cleveland and Bradley County during the month of November.
Cleveland’s revenue from November building permits totaled $13,501 compared to $16,708 in October. An additional $440 in fees from land disturbance permits was received in November.
The total value of projects for November was nearly $3.9 million, compared to almost $4.5 million in October.
Residental building permits were the majority of the permits approved in November. Eighteen permits were approved, representing $1.98 million in projects. Revenue generated from these permits brought in $8,327 in fees. These permits were for the construction of townhouses or single family homes throughout the city.
An additional 16 land disturbance permits were approved for future residential projects and a Mosby Park project. Some of the land disturbance permits were pulled for future projects in the Lynndale Park, Stonebriar, Spring Creek and Kensington Park subdivisions. The job cost for the land disturbances totaled $2 million, according to the city of Cleveland November building permits report.
Nine permits totaling $5,000, were for additions or alterations. Projects ranged from repairing fire damage to creating a sunroom.
Bowater Credit Union received a permit for expanding its building. The project will add a second floor and increase the size of the first floor at the King Street location, according to the report.
Renovations at Mosby Park pool received permit approval in November.
Patti Petitt of Cleveland Parks and Recreation said work had begun on making the current restroom compliant with current Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. The renovations will also make restrooms available to patrons of the park when the pool is not in use.
Petitt said renovations to the concession stand have also begun.
The pool demolition project has not yet begun.
There was only one commercial building permit approved in the city. The permit covered interior construction for Zen Nail Spa on Paul Huff Parkway.
Bradley County’s November building permit revenue totaled only $3,377, compared to $5,984 in October. However, the county also received $875 in fees for land disturbance permits.
The permitted projects in the county were valued at $1,334,800, compared to the value of the $1,982,710 in projects permitted in October.
As in the city, the majority of the building permits issued were for residential projects.
Permits for single-family homes, double-wide homes and mobile homes drew in $2,923.70 in county revenue, and the construction projects were valued at $1,223,000. Properties on Stonebridge Lane and Thoroughbred Drive, both with Cleveland addresses, accounted for the majority of new home constructions, with two homes being built on each street.
There were also 14 land disturbance approved for various projects around the county, mostly pertaining to residential projects.
In addition, nine permits were issued for things like residential additions, remodels, demolitions, repairs and the construction of barns and outside storage buildings. Those permits gave the county $453.30 in revenue and were valued at $111,800.
Bradley County issued no commercial building permits during the month of November.
