SkyRidge Medical Center and Cigna have finalized a new agreement between their organizations.

Effective Jan. 5, the new contract provides Cigna members in-network access to SkyRidge and its services, whether elective or emergency.

The new agreement helps to ensure that area residents with Cigna insurance have options that include SkyRidge and community-based physicians and specialists. Physicians on the hospital’s medical staff will also be in the Cigna network.

“Resolution was important for many reasons, but it is the patients with Cigna insurance who ultimately benefit,” said Coleman Foss, chief executive officer at SkyRidge.

“This new agreement helps patients access the health care services they need close to home,” Foss said. “We are part of a special community and are fortunate to be able to serve our friends and neighbors.”

He added, “SkyRidge is dedicated to providing quality health care close to home and it is our mission to meet the growing healthcare needs of our community. In 2013, we were fortunate to recruit primary care physicians and specialists to the area.”

The physicians and specialists include Dr. Jennifer Ayers, cardiologist; Dr. Selwin Abraham, interventional cardiologist; Dr. Sung Rock Cho, pain specialist; Dr. Stephen Kerley, OB/GYN; Dr. Chris Palmer, orthopedic surgeon; and many others.
