A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Jess and Ada Hicks Chrisman. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Torbett and Jackie Helen Land; and a brother, Bud Chrisman.
He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Cleveland.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Wanda Rose “Chip” Blackwell Chrisman of Calhoun; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Ricky and Terry Chrisman of Athens and Steven Chrisman Sr. of Calhoun; six grandchildren: Steven Chrisman Jr., Matthew Chrisman, Miranda Rose Chrisman, Jess Blake Chrisman, Amber Chrisman and Heather Roberts; five great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Hazel Mullins of Englewood, Joan and Carver Rinehart of Athens, Rita and Teddy Anderson of Englewood; four brothers and sisters-in-law: Randall and Marcella Chrisman of Englewood, Grandville and Sharon Chrisman, Perry and Mary Chrisman and Chester and Gwen Chrisman, all of Englewood.
The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. today, Jan. 6, 2014, in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home in Athens, with the Rev. Paul Fox officiating.
Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Calhoun Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Allen Shultz, Houston Anderson, Joshua Anderson, Floyd Chrisman, Dustin Carter, Jeff Carter and Chris Rinehart.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 this evening at the funeral home.
