Julia E. (Lucy) Calfee, 78, a resident of Cleveland and formerly of Breeds, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, in a Chattanooga hospital.
She went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord Jesus and join her beloved late husband, Billy G. Calfee.
She was a member of North Loop Baptist Church in Crockett, Texas. She was born a small-town country girl who saw and lived in places she only read about in books before becoming an Army wife.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy G. Calfee; son, John W. Calfee; parents, John H. and Maude Foulk Peterson; her father-in-law and mother-in-law; one sister; and five brothers.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Billy Calfee Jr. and Javako Eric Calfee of Cleveland, Richard Calfee of Pikeville, Jeanette (Michael) Hayes and Lynn (Lonnie) Cross of Cleveland, and Cynthia (Dennis) Lowery of Crockett; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donnie Peterson of Canton, Ill.; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family members.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Lowery officiating.
Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Eric Calfee, Michael Hayes, Dustin Duckett, Luis Escobar, Lonnie Cross and Charles (Shorty) Calfee serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
