Hernandez is replacing Todd Bagley, who relocated to Cookeville, to serve as pastor of the Pine Grove Church of God of Prophecy.
In his new position, Hernandez will oversee the translation of the church’s various communications, including publications such as the Mensajero Ala Blanca, and Le Messager à l’Aile Blanche, personal correspondence, and on-site translation services.
Currently, the Church employs translators who specialize in Spanish and French and also contracts with outside translators for additional languages.
Hernandez is a graduate of the Pentecostal Theological Seminary, where he obtained a master of divinity degree, and Lee University, where he obtained a master of science in mental health counseling and a bachelor of arts in psychology. His previous roles include positions as an interim pastor, a therapist, and program director for family services.
“We are delighted to have Michael join the communications team and the International Offices,” said DeWayne Hamby, director of communications.
“The translation department is so crucial to keeping our international leaders and members connected and Michael’s strong leadership skills are going to be a tremendous asset for this Church.”
Hernandez was born in Los Angeles, Calif., and spent his early years helping his parents plant churches in California and Hawaii.
He relocated to Cleveland in 2005 and met his wife, Kara, while attending Lee University.
He will begin his position effective Jan. 27.
