Gladys Mae Brown, 85, a lifelong resident of McDonald, passed away at her home on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1928, a daughter of the late Lenord and Ila Brock.
She was of the Methodist faith and a lifelong member of the McDonald United Methodist Church. Her entire work career was spent with the Plastic Surgery Group of Chattanooga. She was very active in the local chapter of the Eastern Star, where she served as a Worthy Matron for many terms. She loved to travel, make crafts, make flower gardens and just simply enjoy the birds that visited her yard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Judge Ray L. Brock Jr., Edwin Brock and Paul “Buddy” Brock.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Laddie Gene Brown; daughter and son-in-law: Suzanne and Ken Marquis of Lexington, S.C.; grandchildren: Brittany Hixson and Travis Headrick and his wife, Hope; great-grandchildren: PFC Christopher Headrick, Tyler Headrick, Jacob Hixson and Brooke Hixson; sisters, Inez McCarter of Chattanooga and Charlotte Albritton (Don); and brothers, Calvin Brock (Barbara) of Cleveland and William Brock.
She is also survived by numerous other extended family members, church family and a host of special friends.
A graveside service is planned for Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at 2 p.m., in the Lee Cemetery in McDonald with the Rev. Janet Geitner officiating.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory be sent to the McDonald United Methodist Church at 4836 S. Lee Highway in McDonald.
