Edna E. Dixon Maher, 91, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 6, 2014, in a local health care facility.

She was the daughter of the late, Ella Watkins Dixon and Ben Dixon. Her husband, William T. Maher, her daughter-in-law, Judy Smith; her sisters: Ortha Gregg, Ruth Mae Dixon, Fran Leek, and Rubye Long; and her brothers: the Rev. Walter E. Dixon, Paul E. Dixon and Carl Dixon also preceded her in death.

She was a hair dresser and she owned and operated Flair Beauty Salon in Newark, N.J. She also worked as a Ward Clerk at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, N.J. and also served as a nurse’s aide for the Eastwood Nursing Home in Easton, Pa.

She loved nature and enjoyed working in her flower garden. She loved animals including her cats, “Sir Henry” and “Smokey.” She was a member of the St. Therese Catholic Church.

Survivors include her daughters: Denise E. Rauh and her husband, Wayne Smith, of Bethlehem, Pa., Donna R. Bolton of Georgia; her son, Madison E. Smith of Rockland, Calif.; her five grandchildren; her seven great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Wilma Neyman Smith of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at 1 p.m. from the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Carl Caffrey officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
