Just before 2 p.m. Wednesday, a lone person walked into the Pilot located at Pleasant Grove Road near Interstate 75’s Exit 20, and committed a robbery.

Cleveland Police Department information officer Evie West said an undisclosed amount of cash was taken after the robber made a demand, then grabbed cash from two registers.

CPD officer Bobby Ruth and officer J.R. Burnette were the first to reach the store just after the robber left in what was believed to be an older model black Nissan Altima.

A number of eyewitnesses were available to provide detectives with a description of the suspect, as well as his getaway vehicle.

The suspect was wearing a green knit hat, which he pulled over his face as he approached a sales associate at the store, according to information provided during the initial phase of the investigation.

He then exited the store and left the scene.

Video security cameras captured images of the incident.

The robber was described as wearing dark sweatpants, a gray, hooded sweatshirt and a bright green hat/mask and gray New Balance sneakers.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the robber, according to West.

Anyone having additional information or who may have witnessed the perpetrator leaving the scene is asked to contact detectives by calling 728-7311, and following the correct voice prompts, or by contacting Detective Matt Jenkins at 303-3134.
