Mike Reynolds, 70, of Benton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at his residence.
He was a native of McMinn County and a resident of Polk County for 45 years. He was a son of the late Robert L. and Grace Kimsey Reynolds. He was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, John T. Rockholt Sr. and Jack Trotter.
He retired from Bowater after more than 35 years of service. He was a Christian and member of Englewood First Baptist Church. He will be inducted in the McMinn County High School Hall of Fame for football on March 15, 2014, and formerly played for the University of Tennessee football team in the 1960s.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Linda Elrod Reynolds of Benton; son, Dr. Bradley Robert Reynolds of Ooltewah; two sisters and brother-in-law: Pat and Gene Sliger of Athens and Robbie Rockholt of Dalton, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Lena Beth Reynolds of Niota; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-laws: Billie McCaffrey of Cleveland and Reba and husband, Robert Kephart, of Murphy, N.C.
A Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22. 2014, in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home in Athens with Dr. Dwight Kilbourne officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
