Shelby Jean Self Morrow, 59, of Athens, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at a local hospital.
She was the daughter of the late John Self and Gladys Jean Dillard Goss. She was born in Copperhill, and spent the majority of her life in Polk and Bradley counties. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Morrow; and brother, Jackie Self.
She is survived by her five children: Alan Morrow of Cleveland, Anthony Morrow of Ringgold, Ga., Renee Grand and husband, Hubert, of Robbinsville, N.C., Christie Williams and husband, Douglas, of Rocky Face, Ga., and Loyd Goss and fiancée, Cassandra Morrow of Athens; siblings: Arlene Simons and husband, Jimmy, of Benton, Jenny Coker of Etowah, Lucky Self and Herman Self, both of Polk County, Dot Self of Ocoee, Charles Self of Arizona, Anna Mae Millican of Dothan, Ala., and Marie Cross of Cleveland; seven grandchildren, and other extended family members.
A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Lower Yellow Creek Cemetery in Robbinsville, N.C.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Etowah.
