Mustangs do well at Rhea half meet

EVENSVILLE — The Walker Valley track and field team competed in a half meet at Rhea County, with both the boys and girls posting many top three finishers.

Cydney Black finished second in the 100-meter dash, while the Lady Mustangs swept the 1600-meter run with Kayla Sims finishing first, Sierra Green finishing second and Trinity Sellers claiming third.

CyCy White finished first in the discus throw.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Sims, Green, Sellers and Skylar Earls finished in second, while the 4x200-meter relay team of Nicole Hartman, Kyla Downes, Earls and White finished third.

For the boys, Bryce Nunnelly finished third in the 100 meter dash, and Bradley Headrick finished third in the 110-meter hurdles.

Mason McClure came in second place in the 1600-meter run, while Vincent Jur finished just behind in third.

McClure also came in second in the high jump, C.J. Schwark came in third in the shot put event, and Will Burdin earned first place in the triple jump.

The 4x200-meter relay team of Alex King, Zach Hartman, Devin Pruett and Logan Smith claimed a first-place finish, and the 4x800-meter relay team of Zach Nicodemus, Jimmy Ortiz, Joseph Munoz and Wes Wagner also finished first.
