Eula Elizabeth Paul West, 93, of Cleveland, passed away at her home Sunday, March 16, 2014.

On this day in 1941 she was joined in marriage with her late husband, the Rev. Bud West. Today their hearts and hands are once again joined together in Heaven. There they will be joined with their daughter Gladys Bullard, who preceded them both in death.

She was a member of Cleveland Baptist Temple, where she accompanied her late husband in ministry.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1921, to the late Edward and Cora Paul of Dayton. She was the last living descendant of her family and was preceded in death by her brothers: Glen Paul, James Paul, Frank Paul, and William Paul; and sisters: Tennie Paul, Susie Baxter and Maudie Johnson.

She loved working alongside her husband in the cabinet shop, where she designed and built cabinets for many years. Her other interests included gardening and canning. She loved birds and animals of all kinds, but flowers were her passion. She loved to tell stories about her childhood horse, Ribbon. There were many stories and all included how much she loved Ribbon. She always had a fondness for animals of all kinds but especially of horses.

She was a very good cook and many guests were welcomed to her table to join her family for a meal. It has been said she was the best biscuit maker ever. In her later years she enjoyed designing and making quilts for her family. Each quilt seemingly told a story by way of where the fabrics came from and the reason for the particular quilt design. She has always loved being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Lonnie West (Elianne), Walter West (Abigail), Carolyn Burris (Ephron L.), Judy Toomey (Joseph), Ralph West, (Patricia) and one surviving son-in-law, Robert Bullard; grandchildren: Scott Fain, Audrea Holder, Lucinda Ownby, Michelle Macaleer, Alex West, Gabriel West, Rebecca Alladin, Josh West, LaRae Wood, Nathan Burris, Marquetta Burris, Travis Toomey, Amanda Casteel, Michael Finnell, Aaron Finnell, and Brittany Tilley; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Frank Nolan and the Rev. Gary Higgins officiating.

Interment will follow in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jody Baxter, Ethan West, Johnny Paul, Bobby Johnson, Johnny Lewis and Mike Burrell.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
