“By The Way is one of the most enjoyable bands to play the Jubilee,” said Will Nichols, producer of the free weekly show. “They are a group of warm, friendly — and extremely talented musicians and singers.”
By The Way features Ivan McNelly singing lead and baritone vocals along with Eric McNelly on guitar and singing lead and baritone vocals. Junior Peak carries lead and tenor vocals and Keith Greer plays the mandolin and shares the lead vocals.
Ronnie Richmond plays the banjo and Cullis Orr shares lead vocals and plays the harmonica. Hannah McNelly plays fiddle and bass fiddle and Nathan McNelly sings lead vocals and plays rhythm guitar. Riley Peak plays banjo and guitar and Morgan Greer sings lead vocals. Larry Guy plays Dobro and Robert Garren Hall plays banjo. Danny Marshall plays upright bass and Chloe McNelly is featured on cello. Michael Summers plays bass fiddle and Michael Lee adds bass guitar.
“There is no admission to the jubilee and the public is invited. It’s a casual, come-as-you-are event,” said Nichols.
“And each week we give away some terrific door prizes. We pass the hat for the band and to help with expenses.”
Regulars on the jubilee include singer-songwriter Elmer Bramlett, Emily Varnell, and the Cowboy Church Band and Chorale. Ron Upchurch is announcer.
The Cowboy Gospel Jubilee is held at the Cleveland Cowboy Church in the Dockery Heights community between Blue Springs and Blackburn Roads. The address is 3040 Blythe Road.
