Verna Lee Millsaps, 85, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday morning, March 22, 2014, at the family residence

She was the daughter of the late, Jewell Ferguson Fowler and Willie Fowler. Her loving husband of 62 years, Pleas Millsaps; her sister, China Adams and her brothers: Mitchell, Edward, Quinton and Maylon Fowler also preceded her in death.

She enjoyed cooking, canning and working in her vegetable garden! She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a friend to many. She devoted her life to God, her family and church. She was the oldest member of the Samples Memorial Baptist Church and she has faithfully attended since 1955.

Survivors include her daughters: Linda Fay Eaton and her husband, Henry “Bud” Eaton, Mary Frances Stewart and her husband, Victor “Jerry” Stewart, all of Cleveland; her grandchildren: Marty Parker, Jason Parker, Racheal Jenkins, Shelley Cameron, all of Cleveland; her great-grandchildren: Zachary Parker, Brandon Jenkins, Hunter Parker, Tyler Parker, Hope Jenkins, Shiloh Parker, Reed Jenkins, Carson Parker, Sophie Cameron, River Jenkins, Ryder Jenkins and Calvary Cameron, all of Cleveland; her sisters: Betty Smith and her husband, Odell, of Dalton, Ga., Charlotte Brown of Cleveland, Janice Tatum and her husband, Bill, of Cleveland, Elaine Whaley and her husband, Wayne, Trunisia Ownby and her husband, Melvin, all of Crandall, Ga., Judy Burns and her husband, Tommy of Cohutta, Ga. and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life service will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. from Samples Memorial Baptist Church with the Revs. Lee Ingram, Mark Cameron and James Vaughn officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery with grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the Samples Memorial Baptist Church. She may be viewed at the church on Tuesday from 10 until 11 a.m.
