He was licensed with the United Christian Ministerial Association in Cleveland for over 23 years. He was the current pastor for over 10 years at the Life and Praise Worship Center in Sparta and was a former assistant pastor with Pastor Margie Poteet at the United Christian Church in Cleveland. He was mostly a preacher, but he will always be remembered and celebrated for his number one ministry, which was brotherly love.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Pauline Prater; a sister, Angela Dille; and a beloved nephew, Bret Michael Sherman.
He is survived by his loving wife, LaBreeska Patton; his children: Levi, Melea and Ariel Patton, all of Sparta; his parents, Paulette and the Rev. Milton Griffin of Sparta; his brother, Justin Griffin of Sparta; sisters: Tina and Joey Redmaond of Smithville, Toni Crawley of Carthage and Stephanie and David Sherman of Sparta; brother-in-law, Rodney Wiseman and his wife, Hadiah, of Springfield, Mo.; his in-laws, the Rev. Jesse and Lorene Wiseman of Cleveland; sisters-in-law: Karisa Ewinger and her husband, Tom, of Deston, Fla., and Doressa Wiseman Niehaus; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of life Service will be held at 3 p.m. today, April 13, 2014, at the United Christian Church in Cleveland with Pastor Margie Poteat and Don Warren officiating.
Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends today from 1:30 until service time at the church.
