Thelma Elizabeth Turner Mahoney, 91, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday evening, April 16, 2014, at Clairbridge Assisted Living in Cleveland.
A native of Lindsey, Calif., and a lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Ezekiel Johns and Julia Agnes Black Turner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noel Marton Mahoney; and three brothers: Winston Turner, J.B. Turner, and Paul Turner.
She was a past member of East Athens Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Julia Ann and Jimmy Lowrey of Cleveland, Shirley Anita and Pete Peterson of Santa Fe, N.M., and Linda Lea and Mike Starnes of Cleveland; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Marton and Mary Mahoney of Knoxville; three grandchildren: Jeff Baker, Michael Baker and Ryan Starnes; three great-grandchildren: Katelyn May-Baker, Donald Baker and Savannah Baker; one sister, Muriel Vandaveer of Ivanhoe, Calif.; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Alice Turner of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. today in Cedar Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Pete Mullins officiating.
Pallbearers will be sons-in-law and grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home.
