MainStreet Cleveland is gearing up for the spring and summer. The Downtown Dine-Around is fast approaching and the 2014 Cleveland Cruise-in begins this weekend.

Hundreds of classic and antique vehicles, from hot rods to more refined cars and trucks from the past will be on display around the Courthouse Square in downtown Cleveland.

Thousands of people from virtually everywhere in the country come to enjoy the Cruise-in and activities held each month through the summer and into early fall.

One of the newest conceptual event for MainStreet is the Downtown Dine-Around.

It will be held May 1, from 5 to 8 p.m.

According to Sharon Marr, executive director of MainStreet Cleveland, visitors can enjoy food samples at each of the nine downtown dining establishments, all within easy walking distance. Live jazz music by the Cleveland Jazz Quartet, Sassy Brass Tea and keyboardist Mason Mark Vail will fill the air with performers located on Ocoee Street, Broad Street, and at First Street Square. Downtown restaurants offer a wide variety of specialties and dining options, all locally owned and operated; participating restaurants include Café Roma, Cobblestone Grill, The Spot, Five Point Square, Catch Bar & Grill, CBC Cleveland, Bon Life Coffee, Gardner's Market and Mexi Wings.

Tickets are $20 and available at Café Roma, Gardner’s Market, and the main office of Bank of Cleveland.

They can also be purchased the day of the event at the Courthouse Plaza from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. That following Friday, the Evening Shade Concerts in the Park Series begins.

For the month of May, five Friday evening concerts with a diverse genre of musicians will be held at Johnston Park, beginning 6:30 p.m.

The show dates and performers include: May 2, Gospel Variety Night, Gaither Homecoming Style; May 9, The Collins Brothers Band; May 16, Spencer’s Own; May 23, Jericho Brass; and May 30, Dennis Tufano, original voice of The Buckinghams.

Also, MainStreet will once again be the site for the Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society. It will be held on the Courthouse Square May 2 and 3.

The Five Points Farmers Market is also scheduled to open June 5, at First Street Square.
