Martha Magdalene Prater, 87, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014, at her residence.

She was a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church. She loved to embroider. She took great pride in her family. She loved her kids and grandkids.

She was the daughter of the late George and Mary Jane Brown Mull. She was also preceeded in death by her husband, Thomas Jefferson Prater; son, Thomas Houston Prater; and daughter, Martha Faye Prater.

Survivors include her sons: Larry Prater and wife, Hazel, of Tennessee, George Prater and wife, Carol, John Prater and Karen, and Butch Prater and wife, Patti, all of Michigan; daughters: Marilynn Brown and husband, Jerry, and Gail Ledford and husband, Lawrence, both of Tennessee and Sue Zydrski and husband, Don, of Michigan; daughter-in-law, Elaine Prater of Michigan; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and her caregiver and friend, Norma Loper.

The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2014, in the chapel of Grissom Funeral Home with the Rev. Brent Coley officiating.

Interment will be held at Mount Zion Cemetery in Benton with Austin Phillips, Mark Ledford, Scottie Burns, Jerry Howard, Tony Brown and Scottie Eason serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
