Lady Wildcats earn split with Blue Devils

HARRIMAN — Polk County’s Lady Wildcats made the hour-and-a-half trek north to Harriman Saturday afternoon, where they split a doubleheader with the Lady Blue Devils.

In the first game, Polk County fell to the home team 3-1.

Harriman got two runs in the bottom of the first, and then in the bottom of the third scored its final run.

Polk (20-5) was unable to get any runs until the top of the fourth inning off a hit by Hannah Withrow.

Briana Muller hit a double in the first game.

Both teams only recorded four hits, but the Lady Wildcats had three errors.

The 3-1 loss became pitcher Hannah Triplett’s second loss of the season, making her record 12-2.



In its second game, Polk was able to put its defense to work against Harriman and come away with a 1-0 win.

Pitcher Briana Muller recorded her eighth win of the season, making her 8-3 from the circle.

Emily Bates knocked in the lone runner of the game in the bottom of the fourth.

Hannah Triplett hit a double in the second game.

The Lady Wildcats will stay busy this week, with four games on tap.

Weather permitting, the Lady ’Cats will travel to Boyd-Buchanan for a game at 5:30 p.m. and then to Meigs County on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. start time.

The Lady Wildcats host Tellico Plains on Wednesday at 5:30, and will turn around and head to Tellico for a game on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
