After continuing to investigate an aggravated burglary at a Union Road residence, Bradley County detectives found the suspect to be a neighbor of the complainant.

Jeff Hampton was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000.

According to a report filed by deputy David Harper of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, he responded to a Union Road address and met with Jack Ledford.

Ledford had been out of town and when he returned home, he noticed damage to a window of his residence, and that it was open.

After entering his home, Ledford discovered a broken television and additional damage. He also noted two guns had been taken.

Detective Kevin White of the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and aided in the investigation. While speaking with Hampton, White asked if he could check inside his residence. Hampton reportedly agreed and after entering Hampton’s residence, White found a firearm and another allegedly stolen item in the master bedroom.

All the items that had been take were located and returned to Ledford, with the exception of a Marlin rifle.

The original loss was estimated at $3,250.

The Marlin rifle was valued at $500.
