The area’s latest Civil War 150th commemoration event is Saturday at Red Clay State Park.

This marks the anniversary of an entire army of 10,000 troops or more encamped for the winter all over southern Bradley County.

The Union army began advancing on May 2, 1864. The public can view re-enactor campsites Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon.

A cannon firing will kick the event off on Saturday at 9 a.m. and more cannon fire will end it at noon.

A video called “The Civil War in Four Minutes” will be continuously showing in the Red Clay Theatre throughout the morning event.

Bring the family for this free event.

Red Clay State Historic Park is in southern Bradley County just off Dalton Pike.
